Ryerson Conservation Area - Bird Walk

  • Ryerson Conservation Area (map)

Come explore 'warbler alley' and the banks of the Des Plaines River for colorful warblers and spring songbirds.  We will watch and listen for our six species of breeding woodpeckers plus migratory yellow-breasted sapsucker. Wood ducks and sandpipers should be skulking along the river.  Osprey and bald eagles are frequently hunting over the river as well. Perhaps a barred or great horned owl will put in a surprise appearance -- unexpected birds are one of the many delights of birding.
