Come for just the first or second part of this outing, or for both parts. (Real bird nuts can bird Waukegan beach from 5:15 to 6:15!) Bowen Park is a restored Lake Michigan ravine with the opportunity to look up and down for late spring migrants. Thrushes (five are possible), Cape May, northern parula, blackpolls, and vireos (five are regular) are all possible. Then travel a mile up Sheridan Road to Lyons Woods. Many of the same species are present but towhees, golden-winged warblers, and scarlet tanagers are more common.
